Seniors Housing

I support more housing options for seniors in Harrison Hot Springs. Seniors who want to remain in our community should have suitable housing choices available to them.

I would support working with an outside organization, housing provider or other partner that is prepared to develop and operate seniors housing.

However, I do not believe the Village should give away public land for a project like this.

Village owned land belongs to the community. Once it is given away, we may never get it back. Harrison has a very limited amount of public land, and we need to think carefully about what our community may need 10, 20 or even 30 years from now.

I would be open to looking at partnerships and other ways the Village could help make seniors housing possible without permanently giving away an important public asset.

Supporting seniors housing and protecting public land do not have to be opposing positions.

We can do both.
